Hangar 13’s UK studio is reportedly leading development on a prequel to the “Mafia” video game trilogy according to Kotaku.

Codename “Nero,” the game is in very early stages and is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 as opposed to the Mafia 3 engine that was used for the “Mafia: Definitive Edition” trilogy remasters in 2020.

The news comes as part of an internal announcement that Hangar 13’s studio head Haden Blackman is leaving the developer and its parent company 2K. Nick Baynes will take over that role.

A report last year claimed the company was developing an open world sci-fi project codenamed “Volt” dubbed “Cthulhu meets Saints Row”.
