New Line has hired David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick (“Orphan,” “Aquaman”) to pen the fourth main instalment in “The Conjuring” franchise.
Johnson-McGoldrick penned both the second and third entries “The Conjuring 2” and last year’s “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It,” which opened at the top of the box-office and pushed the franchise’s revenue past $2 billion.
The main entries put the focus on a famous case of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. What the case will be for the new instalment is being secret.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga have not signed a deal to return as yet, but it’s expected both will reprise their roles which they played in the three prior films and the spin-off “Annabelle Comes Home”.
James Wan and Peter Safran will produce as per usual. Filming is currently underway in France on the spin-off film “The Nun 2”.
Johnson-McGoldrick was most recently hired to deliver a draft of a sequel to “The Flash” opening next year.
