“Dickinson” producers Wiip are planning a five-part limited TV series adaptation of iconic dystopian story “1984”.
However this adaptation will not be based on George Orwell’s famed 1949 novel, but rather the more recent West End and Broadway stage play version by Robert Icke and Duncan Macmillan which is based on Orwell’s work.
The story takes place in an imagined future that has fallen to denialism, propaganda, endless war and mass surveillance. The novel examines how facts and truths of politics and reality can be easily manipulated.
Executive producers on the series include Icke, Macmillan, Paul Lee and David Flynn with Flynn overseeing the project for the studio.
