The Weinstein Company has premiered the first trailer for “The Current War,” the upcoming period tale about the rivalry between Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse and the race to create a marketable and sustainable electricity system.
Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Edison who championed the use of a direct current for electric power distribution over Westinghouse (Michael Shannon) who backed alternating current.
Tom Holland, Katherine Waterston, Matthew Macfadyen and Tuppence Middleton co-star while Nicholas Hoult also appears as Nikola Tesla. Alfonso Gomez-Rejon helms the film which opens November 24th.
