Rumors began last year that once Warners wraps up its “Fantastic Beasts” films, a trilogy would be on the way based on the stage play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”.
Said rumor resurfaced again on the Unofficial Universal Orlando Podcast recently where it was suggested Warner Bros. Pictures had talked to Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson about returning to their characters. Once the films were done, the younger characters could then spin off into their own new stories.
Rowling herself has now shot those reports down in just one tweet:
I know a lot of people are looking for reasons to be cheerful today, but there is NO TRUTH to the rumour about a #CursedChild movie trilogy!

Warners is presently planning out a five-film “Fantastic Beasts” arc that will keep the Potter-verse on screen busy until well into the next decade.
