We had a close-up of his face, but now a href=”http://www.ew.com/article/2016/08/16/pennywise-costume-stephen-king-it-movie”>EW has unveiled the first full body look at Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise the Clown in Andy Muschietti’s film adaptation of Stephen King’s “IT”.
The full costume has a more traditional clown look. Costume designer Janie Bryant says the idea is to make the child murderer look both child-like and doll-like which is why the fit of the costume feels askew. This Pennywise is also “almost like a shadow” who chooses to hide and strike out rather than lure them in with a bright appearance.
The look does what it likely sets out to achieve – to be both creepy and distinctly different to the look of Tim Curry’s version in the 1990s mini-series adaptation. The new “IT” is currently in production ahead of a September 2017 release.
