The continuing writer’s strike has claimed two more feature film casualties reports the trades.
First up, Warner Bros. has called off its Johnny Depp-led drug drama “Shantaram”. The Mira Nair-directed adaptation of the Gregory David Roberts novel was scheduled to begin production in February.
Meawhile The Weinstein Company has postponed the Rob Marshall-directed musical “Nine”. Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Sophia Loren and Marion Cotillard were set to star in the feature which was aiming for a March start of shooting.
Both projects cited that the delays were because the scripts weren’t ready and both are expected to begin production in the second half of 2008.
