FilmDistrict is closing a deal for U.S. distribution rights to the Taylor Hackford-directed thriller “Parker” with Jason Statham.
The John J. McLaughlin-scripted film is an adaptation of the Donald E. Westlake novel series.
Statham will play Parker, a thief with a strict moral code. It’s the same character Mel Gibson played in Brian Helgeland’s 1999 action/comedy “Payback”.
Steven Chasman, Sidney Kimmel, Les Alexander, Jonathan Mitchell and Hackford will produce. Shooting kicks off in early August.
