Paramount Pictures has acquired film rights to Joelle Charbonneau’s upcoming novel “The Testing”.
The story is set in a United States that has begun rebuilding after natural disasters and biological war.
The action focuses on a 16-year-old girl named Malencia Vale who is chosen for The Testing, a Government program that seeks out possible future leaders of this slowly revitalizing postwar civilization.
Her father underwent The Testing and still has nightmarish half-memories about it. Armed with his dire warnings, she bravely heads off to Tosu City to begin the process.
No producer is currently attached. The book has already been named a one of the Top 10 Young Adult Books for Summer by USA Today.
