UFC champ Ronda Rousey is set to star in the reboot of the Patrick Swayze-led 1989 cult classic “Road House” at MGM.
Swayze starred in the original as a bouncer hired to clean up The Double Deuce – one of the rowdiest, loudest bars in Missouri.
His inner peace is put to the test when he needs to protect the town from a corrupt businessman. The film’s ultra violence and slightly camp appeal have caused it to become something of a cult sensation these days.
Rousey was keen but wanted to be respectful so she recently reached out to Swayze’s widow to ask for her blessing – which was reportedly given gladly.
Screenwriters are currently in talks for the project with filming aiming to begin sometime next year.
