TriStar Pictures have closed a deal with The Jim Henson Co. to produce a remake of the 1986 fantasy feature “Labyrinth”.
Jennifer Connelly starred in the original as a teenager who has to navigate a fantastical maze in order to save her young brother, kidnapped by a goblin king (David Bowie).
George Lucas produced, Jim Henson directed and Monty Python member Terry Jones penned the film which was a box-office dud at the time but has since become a cult classic.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” co-writer Nicole Perlman has been hired to pen the script for the new take which Lisa Henson will produce.
