Ortega Takes TV Break After “Wednesday”

Netflix

“Wednesday” star Jenna Ortega says she has no plans to do another TV series after “Wednesday” wraps on Netflix.

The news came during a Happy Sad Confused interview with the actress, currently out promoting “Klara and the Sun,” who was asked about whether she would commit to another franchise. She responded:

“I actually haven’t had a lot of franchise conversations. What I’m meant to do will come and find me. I think after Wednesday, I’ll probably be off the TV for a while. You know I had many years doing [TV]. I was bouncing from show to show as a kid and I want to leave time for new things.”

Ortega’s prior small screen work included such series as “Jane the Virgin” and “Stuck in the Middle,” but she’s made a successful jump to features including two “Scream” films.

Ortega told Esquire in August that the show is “coming to a head” but there’s been no indication from Netflix if the upcoming and already shot third season of “Wednesday” will be its last.

Ortega has several films in the works, including Cathy Yan’s dark comedy thriller “The Gallerist” and J.J. Abrams’ sci-fi fantasy “The Great Beyond”, both due out next year.
