Universal Pictures has announced “The Mummy: Book of the Dead” as the official title for the upcoming fourth film in the franchise.
The highly anticipated film sees Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz reprising their roles as roguish American adventurer and former French Foreign Legion soldier Rick O’Connell and English Egyptologist and librarian-turned-action heroine Evelyn O’Connell.
Both starred in the roles in the original 1999 film and 2001’s “The Mummy Returns” while Fraser returned solo for a third film with Maria Bello taking over the Evie role.
Also back for the new film are John Hannah as Jonathan Carnahan, Kevin J. O’Connor as Beni Gabor, and Oded Fehr as Ardeth Bay. Michael Johnston joins the cast as a new character.
The Radio Silence duo of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are directing the next film from a script by David Coggeshall. Sean Daniel is set to produce alongside William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, Clayton Townsend and Paul Neinstein.
The new “The Mummy” is slated for release on October 15th 2027.
