The team behind FX’s animated spy comedy smash “Archer” and Adult Swim‘s “Frisky Dingo” are teaming for a whole new project at HBO.
Titled “Merrick & Treves,” the animated comedy series blends sci-fi, historical elements and dark comedy while dealing with the infamous Victorian-era killer Jack the Ripper.
The story follows members of Queen Victoria’s top-secret Royal Temporal Constabulary. The show follows this team of unlikely heroes as they voyage back and forth through time in an effort to stop the infamous murderer of Whitechapel prostitutes in 1888.
HBO has only lightly dabbled in adult animated series in recent years, making it unusual that not only has the series been greenlit, it has also received a full two-season order.
“Archer” creators Adam Reed, Casey Willis, and Lucky Yates will develop the half-hour series and serve as executive producers along with Joel Begleiter.
HBO has not revealed a voice cast, premiere date, or expected release window.
