During New York Comic Con last week, Marvel Studios announced “Zodiac” as the title of a new live-action TV series that was set to begin shooting this Spring in London.
Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, Animation, and comic books, was on hand at the event and confirmed that shooting kicks off in London this Spring, with casting beginning shortly.
He added that: “If you’re a fan of the comics, there’s a lot hidden in that logo. That’s all you’re getting. It’s supposed to be a secret.”
People have speculated about the possibility of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” characters showing up, as the insignia used by the show is visible.
Now, a new report at Knight Edge Media has gone into more detail about the show. It says the series is being developed as a “dark British spy thriller” with three lead roles – two male and one female.
All three will be British, and all three are not expected to have comic book counterparts – they’re totally original characters.
In addition, the show’s tone is said to be a “lot grittier” than you’d expect with the comparison being in line with FX’s “The Americans”. Theories are already swirling that the show will introduce a version of MI-13 from the comics.
Separately, Winderbaum tells Collider: “It’s a globetrotting, international espionage show about secrets and lies and betrayals and secret acts of loyalty and an insane cast of characters.”
“Zodiac” is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2028.
