New “Ghostbusters” Film In Works At Sony?

Sony Pictures

A new live-action film in the “Ghostbusters” franchise is reportedly in development at Sony Pictures.

Scooper DanielRPK has just broken the news, indicating the project is going by the working title “Ghostbusters: Nightmare on 34th Street” with the film being penned by Josh Miller (“Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” “Violent Night”).

No further details are forthcoming, including whether it will follow the main film continuity or be a standalone thing.

At last report, no further live-action films in the series had been greenlit beyond “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” in 2024, but director Gil Kenan and actress Annie Potts have previously teased more was coming.

Four live-action films have been made within the same continuity, not including the 2016 female-led reboot.

More immediate is the 1990s-set “Ghostbusters: Night Shift,” the Netflix animated series set to debut next year. Also in the works is the animated film “Ecto” at Netflix, which unfolds from a ghost’s perspective.
