Comedian and Flagrant podcaster Andrew Schulz is set to join Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler in Joseph Kosinski’s “Miami Vice ’85” film at Universal Pictures.
Whitney Peak, Alden Ehrenreich, Camila Morrone, John Leguizamo and Danny Ramirez are also on board the film, which begins production in November. Dan Gilroy penned the script based on an earlier draft by Eric Warren Singer.
Jordan plays Ricardo Tubbs, and Butler is James ‘Sonny’ Crockett in the movie that will explore the glamour and corruption of mid-1980s Miami as it follows two detectives who work undercover.
The project is said to be inspired by the pilot episode and first season of the landmark television series, which Michael Mann produced and was hugely influential on the TV and cultural landscape.
Schulz currently stars in Netflix’s “Tires” and has a role in the upcoming live-action adaptation of “Street Fighter”. Past credits include “You People,” “Underdoggs,” the “White Men Can’t Jump” remake, and “The Thicket”.
“Miami Vice ’85” is being shot for IMAX and is set to release in cinemas on May 19th 2028.
