NEON has premiered the teaser trailer for “Challengers” and “Call Me By Your Name” director Luca Guadagnino’s “Artificial” ahead of the film’s awards-qualifying run starting on Christmas Day.
The film looks into the meteoric rise of OpenAI – the company behind ChatGPT – along with the personal rivalries, ego clashes, and ethical tensions behind the scenes.
The cast includes Andrew Garfield as current CEO Sam Altman, Yura Borisov as machine learning engineer Ilya Sutskever, and Ike Barinholtz as Elon Musk along with Monica Barbaro, Cooper Hoffman, Zosia Mamet, Chris O’Dowd, Cooper Koch, Billie Lourd, Jason Schwartzman and Mark Rylance.
Back in mid-June, Amazon MGM Studios made headlines for dropping the movie shortly after the shopping giant committed to a $50 billion investment in OpenAI.
Multiple distributors passed until NEON picked up the film, and it underwent reshoots and became “markedly darker” than the original script planned.
The film is set to premiere at the 2026 New York Film Festival in early October before that December 25th limited run ahead of a wider rollout in January.
