“The Wailing” filmmaker Na Hong-Jin’s buzzed about “Hope” is set to open in around 1,500 U.S. theaters starting Wednesday next week – the widest U.S. domestic theatrical footprint for a Korean-language film since 2019 Best Picture winner “Parasite”.
The film will also screen in early access showings on September 7 across several premium large-format setups. Presales are said to be strong in multiple markets. Following set photos of Rebecca Ferguson and Greta Lee getting intimate in London were revealed, details of the project have been unveiled ahead of the TIFF market. Jennifer Carreras, Julia Bicknell and Nahnatchka Khan produce.
Titled “Honeymoon / Funeral,” the pair play two women who meet on a flight from LA to London – one en route to her honeymoon by herself after being left at the altar by her girlfriend, the other headed home for her mother’s funeral – and wind up spending the week together. [Source: Deadline]

Sony Screen Gems and Spyglass are reportedly developing a reimagining of the Japanese horror film “Pulse” with Dave Boyle (“Never After Dark”) attached to direct and co-write with Luke Piotrowski. Parker Finn and Jonathan Fass are set to produce.
The original Kiyoshi Kurosawa 2001 film is a techno-horror about a group of young people in Tokyo who begin to experience strange phenomena involving missing co-workers and friends, technological breakdown, and a mysterious website. Detials of the new take are under wraps. [Source: Deadline]

Following its screening at this morning’s State of Play event, Sony Pictures has released the official clip from “Weapons” director Zach Cregger’s new film take on the “Resident Evil” franchise opening September 18th.
Cregger tells Reddit that the new film is most heavily inspired by the fourth and seventh mainline games in the series.
