Netflix has premiered the first trailer for “Unabomber,” a new film about the infamous U.S. domestic terrorist Ted Kaczynski who led a nearly two-decade bombing campaign.
Danish filmmaker Janus Metz (“Andor,” “Borg vs. McEnroe”) directs the film which alternates between two separate timelines – one in 1958 when Kaczynski was just 16, and the other in the mid-1990s when he was finally captured.
In the earlier set scenes, “Room” and “Doctor Sleep” alum Jacob Tremblay plays the young Kaczynski, who is a prodigy attending Harvard University. There, he’s struggling to fit in and is isolated.
He soon becomes the subject of a series of unethical psychological experiments by celebrated psychologist Henry Murray (Russell Crowe), leading to devastating results.
The 1990s timeline follows FBI agent Joanne Miller (Shailene Woodley), who has been tasked with catching the Unabomber.
Also starring are Annabelle Wallis as Christiana Morgan, Murray’s academic partner and co-director of the Harvard Psychological Clinic, along with Alexander Ludwig, Steven Ogg, and Marc Menchaca.
Sam Chalsen and Nelson Greaves penned the film, which will hit Netflix on September 25th.
