HBO Scrapping DC’s “Waller,” “Paradise Lost”?

Back in January 2023, DC Studios co-chairpeople and CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran unveiled a slate of ten DC Studios projects under the ‘Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters’ banner.

Three of those have been released in full: “Superman,” “Supergirl,” and “Creature Commandos”. A fourth, “Lanterns,” is premiering this weekend. Two further DC projects not on that list, “Clayface” and the “Superman” follow-up “Man of Tomorrow,” are premiering over the course of the next year.

So what about the other six projects announced back in 2023? Both “Swamp Thing” and “The Authority” seemingly remain in development hell along with the Batman film “The Brave and the Bold”. The TV series “Booster Gold” is still in active development and currently seeking a new writer.

So what about the last two – the Viola Davis-led series “Waller” and the “Wonder Woman” prequel series “Paradise Lost”. Both projects were set up at HBO, but a new report at The Ankler suggests both films aren’t just stuck there. Rather, they’ve been scrapped.

The report indicates both projects were considered and then passed on by both HBO and DC. Pitches for series built around Poison Ivy and Catwoman were also floated and rejected.

The news comes as many await reviews for “Lanterns” due any day now. A new poster for that series is also out and can be seen below:
