Amazon Prime Video has premiered the teaser trailer for the third season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” which returns on November 11th.
Season three jumps ahead five years after the second season and unfolds during the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war, bind all peoples to his will — and at last rule all Middle-earth.
The teaser shows the series looking closer to the timeline of “The Lord of the Rings” with the appearance of the Nazgul, Barad-dûr, and Charlie Vickers’ Sauron forging the ring in the fire of Mount Doom in what looks like a much darker season than what came before. The new run also sees that the Dwarves have sealed themselves deep within Khazad-dûm, and Sauron’s armies have conquered vast lands.
The preview aired during a panel at Comic-Con with actors Benjamin Walker, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Owain Arthur, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charlie Vickers, Daniel Weyman and Season 3 newcomer Jamie Campbell Bower participating.
The first season had the largest launch of any Prime Video series ever. The second season wasn’t as strong, but it still premiered as the top original series on Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10 chart.
The series is produced by showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell and director Charlotte Brandstrom executive produce.
