“One Battle After Another” star Benicio Del Toro is making his way to television.
The beloved actor is set as the lead of “Idiocracy” and “Beavis and Butt-head” creator Mike Judge’s new Apple TV comedy series “Protective Custody”.
Judge, Steve Hely and Dave King will write the series while Ben Stiller will co-star and executive produce. Stiller and Del Toro previously teamed on the limited series “Escape at Dannemora”.
The story follows a disgraced financier (Stiller) accused of massive fraud who is thrown into protective custody.
He must navigate prison politics, salvage his reputation and confront the consequences of his actions while awaiting trial.
Details of Del Toro’s role are under wraps, though this will mark Del Toro’s first leading role in a comedy series.
Judge will direct the series, which hails from Apple Studios, Stiller’s Red Hour, Propagate Content and 3 Arts Entertainment.
Executive producers also include John Lesher, Ben Silverman, Howard Owens, Rodney Ferrell, Michael Rotenberg, Nanette Burstein and Oly Obst.
