A24 has premiered the trailer for “Misty Green,” a film which marks the return of Chris Rock as director in more than a decade, along with Daniel Kaluuya’s first on-screen live-action performance since “Nope” four years ago.
Rosalind Eleazar stars in the film as Misty Green, a struggling but tough actress looking to rebuild her fledgling Hollywood career after both professional failure and reconnecting with a person from her past.
The clip details how her attitude has proven to be trouble in the past, and how she could reinvent herself as a singer. The song “One Night Only” from “Dreamgirls” heavily features.
Kaluuya plays her brother, and the pair lead a stacked cast that includes Adam Driver, Anna Kendrick, Topher Grace, Anthony Anderson and Rock himself.
Rock co-produced the movie with David Worthen Brooks and Peter Rice. Miles Alva, Nelson George, Shaum S. Sengupta, and Max Henke executive produce.
“Misty Green” will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival later this year ahead of a theatrical release in OCtober.
