Netflix

In the wake of the film’s major success, Netflix is officially moving forward with a sequel to its Alan Ritchson-led sci-fi action feature “War Machine”.

“War Machine” debuted on the streaming giant on March 26th had has pulled in 139 million views on Netflix – making it one of the ten most popular original films on the streamer.

In the film, the final stage of US Army Ranger selection is underway and an elite team’s training exercise in a forested region turns into a fight for survival when the training exercise stops feeling controlled and starts feeling hunted.

Soon fear, fatigue, and paranoia start corroding the team’s efforts against an unimaginable threat – a mechanoid of incredibly advanced design that won’t stop until its found and killed them all. Dennis Quaid, Stephan James, Jai Courtney, Esai Morales, Blake Richardson, Keiynan Lonsdale, and Daniel Webber co-starred.

Dubbed “Predator” meets “American Sniper,” the film scored mixed/slightly positive reviews from critics, with praise for its action sequences but not so much for the pro-militarism messaging.

Patrick Hughes will return to direct the sequel and co-write the pic with James Beaufort. Hughes will also produce along with Todd Lieberman, Rich Cook, Greg McLean, and Alex Young.
