“God of War: Laufey” Game Announced

Santa Monica Studios

Sony’s Santa Monica studio used the PlayStation State of Play event today to announce “God of War: Laufey” – a new mainline entry in the “God of War” franchise.

The game centers on Faye (Laufey the Just), Kratos’s Norse wife and the mother of Atreus, who is played by “Daredevil” star Deborah Ann Woll.

Awakening unexpectedly in a strange land after her funeral, Faye discovers the plans she put in place to protect Kratos and Atreus are now at risk.

To save the ones she loves, Faye must fight through the afterlife of the gods — the Everywhen — where ruthless gods and creatures from across different mythologies vie for power in a land overflowing with dangerous magic.

In her adventure, she’s joined by a cosmic cube companion named Phranque, played by Jack Quaid, and an enchanted ribbon named Rue played by Perlina Lau.

A trailer shows off her encounter with two of the gods – Sekhmet and Begtse.

The game is said to build on the strengths of the 2018 reboot’s combat system while also “injecting some old school, classic DNA of the Greek era”.
