IO Interactive’s “007 First Light” has proven not just a critical success, but a commercial one as well.
The developer has shared that the game has sold 1.5 million units in its first 24 hours, making it one of the biggest games of 2026. The title was made available at launch for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The game is also scoring strong audience reviews – the 87/100 critics score on Metacritic matched by the 8.8/10 audience score on the platform.
Nonetheless, that hasn’t stopped one rather odd kind of backlash that has emerged against the title – especially from gamers with zero familiarity with the franchise.
Said gamers have labelled it ‘woke trash’ for Bond’s boss being a woman (seemingly unaware of Judi Dench’s nearly 20-year run as ‘M’ in the films).
IO Interactive hasn’t spoken about any DLC plans for the moment. “007: First Light” is now available in stores everywhere.
