Activision has announced that the Infinity Ward-developed “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4” will be released on Friday, October 23rd.
Set on the Korean Peninsula, the game’s dark, gritty cinematic campaign has players take on the role of Private Park, a Korean soldier thrust into war for the first time.
In the game, the world political stage becomes destabilised after North Korea launches a full-scale invasion of South Korea. Missions will also take place in New York, Paris, and Mumbai.
The project has been designed for current-gen consoles only – Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. It marks the first title in the modern series to skip the PS4 and Xbox One.
Infinity Ward is using new technology for the game’s multiplayer which allows for “authentic gameplay, guaranteeing precision aiming, improved weapon handling, realistic audio, and enhanced visibility”.
At launch, players will have access to twelve all-new core 6-versus-6 maps. Multiplayer will feature Gunfight maps, Big War maps for vehicle and infantry combat, and Kill Block. DMZ is also returning to the game.
