Warners Clockwork In Talks For “Rattlecreek”

Warner Bros. new specialty label Clockwork is reportedly in exclusive negotiations for a North American deal to snag the all-star Western “The Brigands of Rattlecreek”.

Current Cannes jury president Park Chan-Wook will direct the long-gestating project that stars Matthew McConaughey, Austin Butler, Pedro Pascal and Tang Wei. Park and Bradley Fischer (“Shutter Island”) will produce the film.

S. Craig Zahler (“Bone Tomahawk,” “Brawl in Cell Block 99”) pens the film that topped the 2006 Black List and follows a sheriff and a doctor who seek revenge against a group of bandits who use the cover of a torrential thunderstorm to rob and terrorise the occupants of a small town.

Park was in talks to direct back in 2012, but the film (then called “The Brigands of Rattleborge”) stalled and was stuck in development hell.

Amazon Studios picked it up but didn’t seem to do much of anything with it, as it’s now back on sale with Warners Clockwork in talks for it.

It marks the third announced film to be released through Clockwork following Sean Baker’s “Ti Amo!” and the re-release Ken Russell’s “The Devils”.
