A live-action TV series based on the acclaimed Image Comics title “Chew” is reportedly in development at Blumhouse and Atomic Monster.

The comic’s co-creator Rob Guillory revealed the news in a Facebook post this weekend, indicating the deal is officially in place:

“It’s been kind of a secret, but the paperwork is done, so might as well start telling people. The Blumhouse/Atomic Monster folks are fantastic, so we’re excited to be working with them.”

Released from 2009-2016, the story focuses on Tony Chu, a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) agent who solves crimes by receiving psychic impressions from whatever he consumes as food – no matter what that might be.

The news will be welcome for fans of the work, as multiple failed efforts to adapt the property were made between 2010 and 2017 including a half-hour Showtime comedy series, and an animated film adaptation.

That animated film reportedly got quite far with Steven Yeun, Felicia Day and David Tennant tapped to provide voices and reportedly completed their work on the project.
