Deadpool’s Shawn Levy Sets Sci-Fi Movie

20th Century Studios

“Deadpool & Wolverine” director and “Stranger Things” producer Shawn Levy has set up the original sci-fi feature “Somewhere Out There” at Netflix.

Levy is attached to direct and produce the film which was a spec script penned by Max Taxe (“Moonshot,” “Ripple”). Dan Levine will also produce.

The story follows a grieving father who, after losing his wife, sends a message out into the stars…and something out there starts to talk back.

The project is dubbed an “emotional sci-fi” tale and is said to be a blend of Denis Villeneuve’s alien tale “Arrival” with Levy’s time travel family adventure film “The Adam Project”.

Several prominent actors are already reportedly circling the role of the father.

Levy recently wrapped production on the “Star Wars: Starfighter” feature starring Ryan Gosling. That film is in a lengthy post-production process ahead of a May 28th 2027 theatrical release.
