Warner Bros. Pictures has premiered the teaser trailer for “Practical Magic 2,” the long-gestating sequel to the 1998 supernatural-tinged dramedy which starred Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman.
Nearly thirty years on, both actresses reprise their roles as witch sisters Sally and Gillian Owens, who in the original movie fight a family curse that dispatches the men with whom they fall in love.
Joining them in this outing is Joey King (“Bullet Train,” “The Kissing Booth”) are a daughter of Bullock’s character who discovers the dark family secrets and her own dark powers, plunging the family into a crisis.
Also onboard are Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña and Lee Pace along with returnees Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest.
The original film was based on the novel by Alice Hoffman and juggled themes and ideas of sisterhood, female empowerment and domestic abuse.
Susanne Bier (“Bird Box,” “The Perfect Couple”) directs the feature from a script by Akiva Goldsman and Georgia Pritchett. Bullock, Kidman and Denise Di Novi produce.
