The first photos from Ridley Scott’s new film “The Dog Stars” have been released by Esquire.

The first shots come ahead of a first trailer, which is rumoured to be arriving as early as this week.

An adaptation of Peter Heller’s acclaimed post-apocalyptic novel, Jacob Elordi stars as a widowed pilot named Hig who is one of the few survivors in a world devastated by a global pandemic.

Hig leads a solitary existence in an aeroplane hangar, with only his dog and a gruff gunman for company. His quiet life is suddenly disrupted when he intercepts a mysterious transmission on his Cessna radio, sparking a journey to uncover its origin.

Josh Brolin stars as Bangley, a gun expert not big on conversation or sharing about his past. Margaret Qualley is Cima, who spends her time doing subsistence farming and guarding against invaders.

Margaret Qualley, Josh Brolin and Guy Pearce also star in the film, which Scott directs from a screenplay written by Mark L. Smith (“Twisters,” “The Revenant”), and a budget of over $100 million.
