The Adult Swim animated comedy “Rick and Morty” returns for a ninth season on May 24th and the network has premiered a new trailer for it below.
Promising “No AI slop! Just Grade A organic slop,” the new run sees one scene in which the floor legitimately becomes lava after the Smith-Sanchez house becomes sentient.
We also see Space Beth return, a big ol’ “Kill Bill” reference, and all sorts of crazy action all set to Billy Idol.
The series, which premiered back in 2013, continues to be Adult Swim’s No. 1 show. The series underwent a considerable shakeup behind the scenes a few years back, with series co-creator Justin Roiland being ousted from the series.
Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden have voiced the narcissistic, alcoholic genius Rick and his bumbling grandson Morty, respectively, from the show’s seventh season onwards.
Series co-creator Dan Harmon originally had a ten-season plan for the series, but the show has already been renewed for an eleventh and twelfth season and is expected to keep pumping out episodes yearly through at least 2029.
