“Maul – Shadow Lord” Renewed For Season 2

Lucasfilm

Even though the series is still days away from premiering, Disney and Lucasfilm seems to realise they really have something.

The new animated “Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord” series has reportedly been renewed for a second season, with Lucasfilm Animation said to be already working on the next chapter in Maul’s journey of vengeance.

Sam Witwer, who voiced the iconic villain in “Solo: A Star Wars Story” and “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” as well as other media, will reprise his role as Maul.

Set after the events of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” the series finds Maul plotting to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire.

He crosses paths with a disillusioned young Jedi Padawan who may just be the apprentice he is seeking to aid him in his relentless pursuit of revenge.

Gideon Adlon, Wagner Moura, Richard Ayoade , Dennis Haysbert, Chris Diamantopoulos, Charlie Bushnell, Vanessa Marshall, David C. Collins, A.J. LoCascio, and Steve Blum all lend their voices to the project.

The show’s first season gets a two-episode premiere on Monday, April 6th on Disney+. Lucasfilm has also posted a new eight-minute featurette with CCO Dave Filoni analysing Darth Maul’s character across episodes of ‘Clone Wars’ and ‘Rebels’ and how they inform the new series.
