New “Supergirl” Testing Another Ending

Warner Bros. Pictures

The Craig Gillespie-directed “Supergirl” film opens in June and reports have suggested the film has undergone multiple rounds of test screenings over the past few months – more than most.

World of Reel claims that the film has been tested at least eight times and “continues to evolve with each new cut”. Three different endings have reportedly been shown, the newest of which was attached to a screening in California last week.

Scoopers MTTSH and Cryptic4KQual both indicate the end includes a cameo, which appears to set up a “Man of Tomorrow” in much the same way Milly Alcock’s Supergirl cameo in “Superman” sets up this film.

Word from the test screenings is that the film leans into an almost ‘space western’ style, with “Guardians of the Galaxy”-esque needle drops and a darker and more character-driven approach. Alcock’s performance in the title role has been extremely well received, as has Jason Momoa’s brief appearance as Lobo.

While the overall reaction to the film has been good, there has been less enthusiasm for Matthias Schoenaerts’ villain Krem of the Yellow Hills. The film has also seen a revolving door of composers with Ramin Djawadi, then Junkie XL and most recently Claudia Sarne taking on the job.

Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, Ferdinand Kingsley and David Corenswet also star in the film which opens in cinemas on June 26th.
