Tubi has handed out a greenlight for a sequel to “R.L. Stine‘s Pumpkinhead” following the streaming original feature’s successful debut last October.

The first film inspired by best-selling novelist Stine’s “The Haunting Hour” and followed Sam, whose brother Finn mysteriously disappears and everyone forgets he ever existed. But Sam still remembers him and must unravel the mystery before Finn is gone forever.

The sequel follows Evan, a bullied student who finds a forbidden spellbook that revives the ancient curse for his town of Redhaven. This leads the pumpkin-headed children of previous sacrifices to emerge during its Harvest Festival. The town’s only hope is the return of a witch who is dead set on destroying the book.

Jem Garrard (“Slay”) penned and directed the first film and returns for the sequel and executive produces alongside James Mattagne, Joan Waricha, Harvey Kahn, Yvonne Bernard, Dan Bernard, Allen Lewis and Rama Diallo.

Tubi chief content officer Adam Lewinson says: “Few storytellers have shaped the horror genre for young audiences as profoundly as R.L. Stine, and his work continues to find new life with each generation. Given the breakout success of Pumpkinhead, we’re going deeper into this mythology and continuing our commitment to fans of young adult horror.”

Much like last year’s entry, this one will premiere in October as part of the platform’s month-long ‘Terror on Tubi’ programming which surpassed 100 million hours of total viewing time last year.
