Netflix put the first two episodes of the second season of its live-action “One Piece” series in cinemas last week for limited theatrical screenings for fans on the day of its premiere.
The streamer hasn’t indicated how it went, but they must’ve liked what they saw because they’ve just announced they’re doing it again – this time for the first two episodes of the “Stranger Things” animated spin-off series “Stranger Things: Tales From ’85”.
In partnership with AMC Theatres, several dozen theatres across the United States are participating in the event, which will be held on April 18th at noon and 3pm local time – five days ahead of the show’s debut on the service on April 23rd.
The animated series hails from showrunner Eric Robles and Stranger Things co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer and is set between the events of the second and third seasons of the flagship series.
Unfolding in the winter of 1985, snow blankets the town and the horrors of the Upside Down are finally fading. Our heroes Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max have settled back into a normal life of D&D, snowball fights, and quiet days. But beneath the ice, something terrifying has awakened.
Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, March 19th at 8am US-PT. Netflix previously released the “Stranger Things” finale in cinemas at New Years which did big business with o $25 million haul from concession vouchers.
