“Minions & Monsters” Casting Announcement

Universal Pictures

Oscar winners Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz and Jeff Bridges; Oscar nominees Jesse Eisenberg and Trey Parker; and actress Zoey Deutch have all joined the cast of “Minions & Monsters” at Illumination and Universal Pictures.

Universal revealed the additions in a new casting announcement video released this morning via the studio’s official YouTube channel.

The six join the already cast Bobby Moynihan and Phil LaMarr in the film which is being directed by returning Oscar nominee Pierre Coffin who directed the first “Minions” film, the first three “Despicable Me” films, and has done the voice of the Minions since 2010.

The film follows the “rambunctious, ridiculous and totally true story” of how the Minions, led by Dick, became movie stars in the 1920s. They then lost everything, unleashed monsters onto the world, and finally banded together to try and save the planet from the mayhem they had just created.

Brian Lynch and Coffin wrote the screenplay Chris Meledandri and Bill Ryan produce. The new film marks the third “Minions” movie following 2022’s “Minions: The Rise of Gru” which earned almost $1 billion worldwide.

“Minions & Monsters” opens in cinemas on July 1st.
