New set photos have emerged from “Nosferatu” and “The Lighthouse” director Robert Eggers’ newest film, “Werwulf,” which is currently shooting in the UK.

The photos show Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s lead character in the period horror drama, his character with long hair, a messy beard, shirtless and covered in blood – most likely a post-transformation scene.

Details of the new film are under wraps, but the story unfolds in 13th-century England and reportedly features dialogue that was true to the time period. It will also have translations and annotations as it uses Old English for the dialogue.

The film was originally planned to be shot in black and white, but that is no longer the case. Eggers has co-written the film with Sjón and both will produce alongside Tim Bevan, Garett Bird, Eggers and Eric Fellner.

“Nosferatu” became the director’s highest-grossing film to date, making $156.3 million off a $50 million budget. The new film is tipped to be the “darkest thing” he’s ever written and comes before a planned “Labyrinth” sequel which Eggers is attached to.

“Werwulf” is expected to arrive in cinemas on December 25th 2026.
