A24 has premiered a new second trailer for “Marty Supreme,” the new film from “Good Time” and “Uncut Gems” co-director Josh Safdie.
The sports adventure comedy-drama is a fictionalised story inspired by professional ping pong player Marty Reisman.
The table tennis champion started his career as a hustler in Manhattan, playing for bets and prize money and won 22 major ping pong titles from 1946 to 2002.
Safdie and Ronald Bronstein co-wrote the film which is tied to a specific time, namely 1950s New York, and fictional character inspired by Reisman. In the film, Marty Mauser, a young man with a dream no one respects, goes to hell and back in pursuit of greatness.
Timothée Chalamet leads the cast as the title character alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler Okonma, Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher.
Safdie and Ronald Bronstein also produces the film alongside Eli Bush and Anthony Katagas. “Marty Supreme” opens in cinemas on December 25th.
