Benicio del Toro To Join “Ocean’s” Prequel

Warner Bros. Pictures

Beloved actor Benicio del Toro, coming off his acclaimed turn in “One Battle After Another,” is reportedly in negotiations to join the cast of the “Ocean’s Eleven” prequel at Warner Bros. Pictures and LuckyChap Entertainment.

Earlier this month, the news came that Bradley Cooper had joined the cast and was set to star opposite Margot Robbie in the film. He is taking over the role that Ryan Gosling was originally slated to play.

Plot and character specifics are under wraps, though the film is rumoured to be titled simply “Oceans” with Cooper and Robbie playing the parents of George Clooney’s Danny Ocean and Sandra Bullock’s Debbie Ocean characters.

Set against the backdrop of the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix, the film is said to have a “To Catch a Thief” vibe. Carrie Solomon (“A Family Affair”) penned the script.

del Toro is reportedly being eyed for a potential villain role in the project, which looks set to cast up quickly in the coming months ahead of an early 2026 shoot.

Lee Isaac Chung (“Twisters”) is directing the project, while Linus Sandgren (“La La Land”) will serve as cinematographer.
