Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Doomsday” will see multiple faces returning from the X-Men franchise, including Patrick Stewart (Professor Xavier), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), and Kelsey Grammer (Beast).
Combined with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine appearing in last year’s “Deadpool & Wolverine,” that means many of the major players from the original X-Men have appeared in the MCU.
Two notable exceptions, however, are Halle Berry’s Storm and Famke Janssen’s Jean Grey. Earlier this year, Berry made it clear to BGN that she’s not involved in the new “Avengers” and didn’t sound like she was in any rush to reprise her role.
Now, Janssen recently spoke with EW in which she was asked about potentially reprising her role in “Avengers: Doomsday”. She says:
“Every time I do an interview, it’s mentioned. It’s interesting. I didn’t realise that was such a big part. Every interview I do, that will come up, and of everything I say, that is going to be the only thing that’s gonna be printed.”
Asked if Marvel ever asked her to reprise the role after that Fox era of movies she said: “Never. Never ever.” Then asked why media keeps asking her about it, she adds:
“I should be flattered, I suppose, that this character has resonated with people. It’s been so long, but it’s nice that people are still talking about her. I’m sure every single time there’s a new movie that they’re doing, like [is it] Doomsday? It’ll come up again.”
The comments echo Berry’s earlier this year. Jackman’s involvement in either of the new films hasn’t been made clear, but the actor has expressed enthusiasm about returning.
“Avengers: Doomsday” is set to be released on December 18th 2026 with “Avengers: Secret Wars” scheduled to arrive on December 17th 2027.
