Idris Elba-Led “Hijack” S2 Set For January

Apple TV

Apple TV has officially announced a January 14th premiere date for the second season of the Idris Elba-led action thriller series “Hijack”.

The series is going from planes to trains for the second outing, with a date announcement trailer showing Elba boarding a train that has a bomb attached to the undercarriage.

The first season unfolded in real-time onboard a Dubai to London flight, which gets hijacked and followed not just Elba’s talented business negotiator character onboard, but traffic controllers, authorities and criminals on the ground with a vested interest in the flight.

Archie Panjabi, Christine Adams, Max Beesley, Ben Miles, Eve Myles and Neil Maskell co-starred in that first season which hailed from “Lupin” creator George Kay and BAFTA-nominated Jim Field Smith.

Originally intended as a standalone limited series, the first season became a breakout hit and one of the streamer’s most-watched dramas.

The second season wrapped production back in February with Toby Jones, Lisa Vicari, Christiane Paul, Clare-Hope Ashitey, Karima McAdams and Christian Näthe joining the cast this time out.
