Paul Greengrass’ “Uprising” Sets Major Cast

Jamie Bell, Cosmo Jarvis, Thomasin McKenzie, Jonny Lee Miller, and Woody Norman are set to join Andrew Garfield and Katherine Waterston in filmmaker Paul Greengrass’ new historical drama “The Uprising” at Focus Features.

Set during the Peasants’ Revolt in 14th-century England, the story follows a legendary rebel leader (Garfield) who forges an army of ordinary citizens to rebel against the tyranny of King Richard II.

As the war engulfs the British countryside, it becomes a brutal fight for justice, survival, and the soul of a kingdom. Production is officially underway on the project which Greengrass wrote.

Greengrass, Jason Blum, Gregory Goodman, Joanna Kaye, Joe Neurauter and Lars Sylvest produce.

The “Captain Phillips,” “United 93” and “The Bourne Supremacy” director most recently directed the Matthew McConaughey-led “The Lost Bus” which is now available on the Apple TV service.

Bell is coming off “All of Us Strangers,” Jarvis was last seen in “Shogun” and “Warfare,” McKenzie was seen in “Last Night in Soho” and recently shot “Victorian Psycho,” Miller was most recently in “The Crown” and “The Covenant,” Norman appeared in “C’mon C’mon”.
