Beloved Nickelodeon animated series “Avatar: The Last Airbender” held its 20th anniversary panel at New York Comic Con this weekend, with news that the franchise is getting some expansions.
Those expansions will include a new fighting video game and animated YouTube series.
The game, going by the title “Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game,” will include Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, Azula, Toph and Korra hand drawn in 2D animation. It will release on consoles in the summer of 2026.
A chibi-style 2D animated series of short videos also debuted. The shorts will reimagine classic scenes from the original “Avatar” series and the comics, and will offer original stories.
Original cast members Zach Tyler Eisen (Aang), Jack De Sena (Sokka), Michaela Jill Murphy (Toph), Dante Basco (Zuko), Mae Whitman (Katara), co-creator Bryan Konietzko and moderator Janet Varney (Korra) were on hand for the panel.
A sequel series titled “Avatar: Seven Havens” is in the works while the animated feature “The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender” is set for theatrical release on October 9th 2026.
