“Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl” event didn’t just conquer the domestic box-office, it has taken the international box-office too.
Opening in 54 overseas markets, the title earned an additional $13 million, bringing its worldwide weekend haul to $46 million.
However a bunch of eyes are on Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another” which has had strong staying power overseas, falling just 22% in its second weekend and even increasing in certain markets like New Zealand and Germany.
With a further $21.7 million haul, the title has now managed to rack up $58.9 million overseas and $101.7 million globally – the first film by PTA to have crossed the $100 million mark.
Disney’s re-release of “Avatar: The Way of Water” fared much better overseas than domestically, pulling in $6.8 million and bringing the re-release worldwide total to $10 million.
Its performance in Australia saw the film’s overall total push past “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” to become the second highest grossing film of all time in Australia behind only the original “Avatar”.
Warners is also doing very well with “The Conjuring: Last Rites” which pulled in a further $9.3 million overseas and worldwide is currently sitting at an astonishing $458.2 million.
“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle” meanwhile has managed to push its worldwide haul to $633 million and still managed to pull in a further $10.2 million this weekend.
