Going into the new season of “Peacemaker,” it was hinted that the final three episodes will have implications for the DC Universe moving forward.
The first of those three aired this week and did a brief bit of setup for the “Superman” follow-up “Man of Tomorrow”. Now, Gunn indicates the season finale is going to have a bigger change – one that impacts the “Peacemaker” series itself.
Speaking with Deadline, Gunn says there are more plans for John Cena’s Chris Smith and the other ’11th Street Kids’ that make up his team. Those plans, however, aren’t for a third season. When asked about a third season of the series, he says:
“You’re gonna find out more in episode 8 because it’s not necessarily that. Some of these characters will continue, but also, it’s not exactly Peacemaker 3. I’m not ruling it out. You’ll see [episode] 8 and maybe you’ll find out a little bit more.”
Gunn has long been planning a “Waller” TV series focusing on Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) who has a history with multiple Peacemaker characters. That project has been developing slowly.
Where else these characters might show up isn’t clear. Gunn also confirmed that there’s one more round of “Superman” cameos taking place in that aforementioned eighth episode.
Gunn also separately confirmed to The Morning After Pod he has “major plans for Mr. Terrific” going forward in the DCU.
