Trailer: Gerard Butler In “Greenland 2: Migration”

Lionsgate

Lionsgate has premiered the official trailer for the Gerard Butler-led “Greenland 2: Migration”

Gerard Butler starred as John Garrity in the first film, a structural engineer who attempts to flee Atlanta along with his wife Allison (Morena Baccarin) and diabetic son Nathan (Roger Dale Floyd) after a comet threatens to destroy the planet.

After John, Allison and Nathan are separated, the family struggles to reunite while fragments of the comet rain down on earth, threatening an extinction-level event.

The sequel is set in the aftermath of the comet strike that decimated most of the Earth. The story follows the Garrity family (Butler, Baccarin, and Roman Griffin Davis) as they’re forced to leave the safety of their bunker in Greenland to traverse a shattered world, and what’s left of Europe, in search of a new home.

Butler reunites with director Ric Roman Waugh and the first film’s writer Chris Sparling.

Released during the 2020 pandemic, the original film took in over $50 million at the box office. A sequel was quickly greenlit but stalled due to STX putting the film’s rights into bankruptcy protection.

Butler, Alan Siegel, Brendon Boyea., Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Sébastien Raybaud and John Zois are producing. Anton and STX are co-producing and co-financing.
