“Spaceballs 2” Cast Assembled In Photo

The sequel to 1987’s “Spaceballs” has begun production, Amazon MGM Studios marking the occasion with a first look photo of the complete cast assembled for a table read of the script.

In addition, the photo confirms the return of many major talents from the original, along with some already announced newcomers and a few newly revealed faces.

First up, Rick Moranis, Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga, and Mel Brooks will reprise their respective roles as Lord Dark Helmet, Lone Starr, Princess Vespa, and Yogurt/President Skroob. Newly announced as returning is George Wyner who played Colonel Sandurz in the original movie.

They will be joined by Josh Gad, Keke Palmer and Lewis Pullman in new roles, while also revealed today is that “Twisted Metal,” “Barry” and “Superman” alum Anthony Carrigan has joined the cast.

Plot details for the film are being kept under wraps at this time. Josh Greenbaum (“Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar,” “Will & Harper”) is directing from a script by Gad, Benji Samit, and Dan Hernandez.

Greenbaum, Brooks, Gad, Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Jeb Brody, and Kevin Salter produce. “Spaceballs 2” will be released in cinemas in 2027.
